Turbo, post-snack, pre-nap

My dog Turbo, the namesake of Turbo Treats, came home with me in the spring of 1995 as a six month old puppy. Soon after his arrival, it became obvious that Turbo had chosen to dedicate his life to the pursuit of fine treats and gastronomic pleasures. I had hoped we would embark on an illustrious career in animal acting or search and rescue work, but alas, it was not to be.

For the next several years, Turbo spent most of his waking hours vigorously seeking out, sampling and re-sampling various snacks and goodies, searching for the best. Admittedly, this pursuit was hampered by what had become Turbo’s second passion, napping. He excelled at both, and I could sense the inner turmoil Turbo felt when having to decide between the two. I tried to explain to him that things weren’t always fair, that difficult decisions were just part of life. He steeled himself for the tough journey ahead, then had a snack. And a nap.

The real problems began in 2000, and I hold my father Pat responsible for it all. Pat had been making beef jerky as a hobby, and one day quipped that he could probably make some for Turbo, without all the spices. I reluctantly agreed, knowing that Turbo’s rigid schedule of snacking and napping was not something to be jumbled at will. Turbo heard the details of the plan, and was gripped with a new sense of purpose. If I recall correctly, he was so excited he needed an extra-long nap. After a treat, of course.

What followed was a canine culinary expedition, with different formulas and mixes to find just the right balance. Our approach was simple - high quality, organic, human-grade ingredients with a supplement added in for good measure. Turbo selflessly applied himself to the task, putting aside his own needs in the quest for the perfect snack. His testing regimen was intense: he sampled every batch we produced extensively, comparing, contrasting, sometimes going hours without a nap. It was an admirable effort, and Turbo Treats were the result.

We hope you like them. Turbo loves them. And naps.
